Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By oath of the (particular) dawn. 1 And by oath of ten nights. 2 And by the even and the odd, 3 and by the night when it departs. 4 Indeed in that there is an oath for a man of sense. 5 Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? 6 With many-columned Iram, 7 The like of which were not created in the (other) cities; 8 and with [the tribe of] Thamud, who hollowed out rocks in the valley? 9 And (with) Firon, the lord of hosts, 10 (All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands, 11 And multiplied iniquity therein? 12 Then their Lord unloosed upon them the lash of chastisement. 13 indeed, your Lord is ever watchful. 14 So man, whenever his Lord tests him by giving him honour and favours – thereupon he says, “My Lord has honoured me.” 15 However, when his Lord tests him by a measured amount of sustenance, he says, "God has disgraced me". 16 Nay, but ye (for your part) honour not the orphan 17 and do not urge one another to feed the poor, 18 and you devour the inheritance with greed, 19 and you love wealth with boundless love! 20 No! When the earth has been leveled - pounded and crushed - 21 and (when you find yourself) in the presence of your Lord and the rows and rows of angels, your greed for riches will certainly be of no avail to you. 22 And hell is made to appear on that day. On that day shall man be mindful, and what shall being mindful (then) avail him? 23 He will say, "Would that I had done some good deeds for this life". 24 Wherefore on that Day none shall torment with His torment. 25 nor will any bind as He binds. 26 O the contented soul! 27 Return to your Lord, well-pleased and well-pleasing Him. 28 Enter thou among My servants! 29 And enter My Paradise." 30
