Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by the day of resurrection. 1 Nay! I swear by the self-accusing soul. 2 Does man imagine that We will not be able to bring his bones together again? 3 Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. 4 None the less man chooses to deny what lies ahead of him, 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 Yet when the eyes are dazzled, 7 The moon eclipsed, 8 And the sun and the moon will be united. 9 upon that day man shall say, 'Whither to flee?' 10 But there is nowhere to take refuge: 11 Before thy Lord (alone), that Day will be the place of rest. 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 even though he offers his excuses. 15 Do not forestall (the revelation before its completion) by acting in haste. 16 for, behold, it is for Us to gather it [in thy heart,] and to cause it to be read [as it ought to be read]. 17 Thus, when We recite it, follow thou its wording [with all thy mind]: 18 Again on Us (devolves) the explaining of it. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 and give no thought to the life to come [and to Judgment Day]! 21 Some faces will be radiant on that Day, 22 Looking towards their Lord; 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 certain of facing a great calamity. 25 NAY, but when [the last breath] comes up to the throat [of a dying man,] 26 and it is said: 'Who is a healing chanter' 27 And he knoweth that it is the parting; 28 And the leg is wound about the leg, 29 upon that Day the driving shall be to your Lord. 30
