Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a high Garden 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 therein a running fountain, 12 raised couches, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 In which case he will be punished by God with the severest punishment. 24 Verily, to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
