The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Most Beneficent (Allah)! 1 Taught the Qur'an, 2 He created man, 3 And taught him to express clearly. 4 [At His behest] the sun and the moon run their appointed courses; 5 and the stars and the trees bow themselves; 6 He raised the heavens and set up the measure, 7 Do not transgress the scales. 8 And establish the measures justly, nor decrease the due weight. 9 And earth -- He set it down for all beings, 10 There exists all kinds of fruits, palm-trees with sheathed blossoms, 11 And the grain with (its) husk and fragrance. 12 So which of the favors of your Lord would you deny? 13 He created the human being from clay like that used for pottery 14 And He created the jinn of a flame of fire. 15 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 16 He is the Lord of the two easts and the Lord of the two wests. 17 Which favors of your Lord will you both belie? 18 He released the two seas, meeting [side by side]; 19 Whereas there is a barrier between them so they cannot encroach upon one another. 20 O which of your Lord's bounties will you and you deny? 21 Out of them come Pearls and Coral: 22 Which of the wonders of your Lord's power will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 23 By His command, the ships with raised masts sail on the sea like mountains. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
