The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 facing one another. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And meat of birds that they may wish. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 (Naught) but the saying: Peace, (and again) Peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 And water gushing, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And carpets raised. 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgins, 36 loving and of equal age. 37 for those on the Right, 38
