The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And have made the night as a covering (through its darkness), 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 a return for the insolent, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
