Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 And affirms goodness, 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 and what will his wealth avail him when he goes down [to his grave]? 11 It is indeed for Us to show the way, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But save him who fears 17 He who spends his wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
