The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
(Muhammad), read in the name of your Lord who created (all things). 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay, surely man transgresses; 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Have you thought that if he denies and turns away, 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 So let him call his associates, 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
