O Ye apostles! eat the good things and work righteously; verily of that which ye work I am the Knower. 51 Verily this your order is one order, and I am your Lord, so fear Me. 52 But they (who claim to follow you) have torn their unity wide asunder, piece by piece, each group delighting in [but] what they themselves possess [by way of tenets]. 53 So leave thou them in their perplexity for a time. 54 Do they fancy that Our continuing to give them wealth and children (means) that 55 We [but want to] make them vie with one another in doing [what they consider] good works? Nay, but they do not perceive [their error]! 56 Indeed those who are overwhelmed due to the fear of their Lord – 57 and who believe in their Sustainer's messages, 58 And those who ascribe not partners unto their Lord, 59 who give what they give, with their hearts quaking, that they will return to their Lord: 60 those, hasten in good works, outracing to them. 61 On no soul do We place a burden greater than it can bear: before Us is a record which clearly shows the truth: they will never be wronged. 62 But their hearts are heedless of this. Moreover, there are other deeds besides this which they do. 63 But when We will strike with torment those (unbelievers) who are rich, they will start to cry for help. 64 Do not cry out today. Indeed, by Us you will not be helped. 65 Time and again were My messages conveyed unto you, but [every time] you would turn about on your heels 66 "In arrogance: talking nonsense about the (Qur'an), like one telling fables by night." 67 Have they not pondered over the word of God? Has something come to them that did not come to their forefathers? 68 Or is it that they have not recognized their Apostle, so that they deny him? 69 Or do they say, "In him is madness?" Rather, he brought them the truth, but most of them, to the truth, are averse. 70 Had truth been subject to their whims the heavens and the earth and all those within them would have been depraved. In fact We had sent them their reminder, but they turned away from good advice. 71 Or is it that thou askest them for some recompense? But the recompense of thy Lord is best: He is the Best of those who give sustenance. 72 Indeed you are calling them to a Straight Path, 73 But those who believe not in the Hereafter turn away from the straight path. 74 ۞ Though We had mercy on them and relieved them of the harm afflicting them, they still would wander blindly on in their contumacy. 75 We already seized them with the chastisement, yet they abased not themselves to their Lord nor were they humble; 76 when We opened on them a gate of severe punishment, they utterly despaired. 77
