The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 – and then there will be no one to deny its occurrence – 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains are shattered into [countless] shards, 5 and become like scattered dust particles, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 The people of the left hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their left hands. How miserable they will be! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruits that they may like. 20 And the flesh of fowl such as they desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among thornless lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 and extended shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruits abounding 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
