The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Did We not make the earth a bed? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 We raised over you several secure (skies), 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Truly, Hell is a place of ambush, 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
