The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a gushing fluid 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Surely He is able to bring him back 8 on the Day when all secrets will be laid bare, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and by the earth ever bursting with verdure, 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 They are devising a guile, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 Let, then, the deniers of the truth have their will: let them have their will for a little while. 17
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
