The Stars (Al-Najm)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the star when it descends, 1 your companion has neither strayed nor is he misguided, 2 and neither does he speak out of his own desire: 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 and taught to him 5 The Lord of Strength; so he attained completion, 6 being on the higher horizon. 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 two bows' length away, or nearer, 9 So Allah divinely revealed to His bondman, whatever He divinely revealed. 10 His heart added no untruth to what he saw. 11 Will you then dispute with him as to what he saw? 12 He saw Him indeed another time 13 by the lote-tree at the farthest boundary, 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 Indeed he saw some of the greatest signs of His Lord. 18 Have you really considered al-Lat and al-"Uzza, 19 and Manat the third, the other? 20 Shall you have the male issues, and He the female issues? 21 That indeed is a division most unfair! 22 They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance. 23 Does man imagine that whatever he wishes for is right for him? 24 So (know that) Allah only is the Owner of all – the Hereafter and this world. 25
