And said the leaders of his people, who disbelieved and denied the confronting of the Hereafter – and We had given them comfort in the worldly life – that, “He is nothing but a human like you, he eats from what you eat and drinks from what you drink.” 33 If you obey a mortal like yourselves, you shall be lost. 34 Promiseth he unto you that ye, when ye have died and have become dust and bones, ye are to be brought forth? 35 ۞ How far-fetched what you are promised; 36 "There is nothing but our life in this world! We shall die and we live! But we shall never be raised up again! 37 He is naught but a man who has forged a lie against Allah, and we are not going to believe in him. 38 [Whereupon the prophet] would say: "O my Sustainer! Succour me against their accusation of lying!" 39 (Allah) said: "In but a little while, they are sure to be sorry!" 40 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them with justice, and We made them as rubbish of dead plants. So away with the people who are Zalimun (polytheists, wrong-doers, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, disobedient to His Messengers, etc.). 41 Then We produced after them other generations. 42 [for,] no community can ever forestall [the end of] its term - and neither can they delay [its coming]. 43 We then sent our Noble Messengers, one after another; whenever a nation’s Noble Messenger came to it they denied him, We therefore united the succeeding with the old, and made them history; so far removed be the people who do not believe! 44 Then We sent Moses and his brother Aaron with Our tokens and a clear warrant 45 To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were arrogant and were a haughty people. 46 They said: "Shall we believe in two men like ourselves? And their people are subject to us!" 47 So they denied them, and became of those who were destroyed. 48 We gave the Book to Moses so that perhaps they may have guidance. 49 And We made the son of Mary and his mother a sign, and gave them shelter on an elevated ground, sequestered, watered by a spring. 50
