He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him thou attendest 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 but as for one who comes to you, eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 On honoured leaves 13 exalted and purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then when He pleases, He will raise him to life again. 22 Nay, but [man] has never yet fulfilled what He has enjoined upon him! 23 Let man consider his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
