The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 And when the stars fall, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And when Paradise shall be brought near, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 by the night swarming, 17 And by the dawn as it brightens; 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of an outcast devil. 25 Where then are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 So let those who want, choose the right guidance 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
