The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By oath of the sun and its light 1 by the moon when it follows the sun, 2 And [by] the day when it displays it 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 By the Firmament and its (wonderful) structure; 5 By the earth and Him Who spread it forth, 6 And the soul and Him Who made it perfect, 7 And inspired it [with discernment of] its wickedness and its righteousness, 8 He has succeeded who purifies it, 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, 11 When the most wretched of them was sent forth. 12 So Allah's apostle said to them (Leave alone) Allah's she-camel, and (give) her (to) drink. 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 He dreadeth not the sequel (of events). 15
