The chiefs of Pharaoh's people said, "This is most surely a skillful magician, 109 "He wants to get you out of your land, so what do you advise?" 110 They said: Put him off and his brother, and send collectors into the cities: 111 To bring each knowing wizard unto thee. 112 And the magicians came unto Fir'awn. They said: surely there is for us a reward if we are the overcomers. 113 He said, 'Yes, indeed; and you shall be among the near-stationed.' 114 They said, 'Moses, wilt thou cast, or shall we be the casters?' 115 He said: cast ye. Then when they cast down, they enchanted the eyes of the people, and terrified them and brought mighty magic to bear. 116 Then We revealed to Moses: 'Now, throw down your staff' And thereupon it swallowed up their false invention. 117 ۞ So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing. 118 Thus they were vanquished there, and they went back abased. 119 The sorcerers fell to the ground in homage, 120 and said, "We believe in the Lord of the Universe, 121 the Lord of Moses and Aaron." 122 Said Pharaoh, 'You have believed in Him before I gave you leave. Surely this is a device you have devised in the city that you may expel its people from it. Now you shall know! 123 Surely I will cut off your hands and feet on the opposite sides and thereafter I will crucify you all. 124 They said, "Indeed, to our Lord we will return. 125 "The only reason you have to hate us is that we believed in the signs of our Lord as they came to us. O our Lord, give us sufficient endurance that we may die submitting (to You)." 126
