Shall he then whose breast Allah hath expanded for Islam, so that he followeth a light from his Lord be as he whose heart is hardened? Then woe unto those whose hearts are hardened against remembrance of Allah. They are in an error manifest. 22 Allah has revealed the best teaching, a self-consistent Book which repeats its contents in manifold forms whereat shiver the skins of those that hold their Lord in awe, and then their skins and their hearts soften for Allah's remembrance. That is Allah's Guidance wherewith He guides whosoever He pleases. And he whom Allah does not guide to the Right Path has none to guide him. 23 Is he then, who will strike his face against the awful doom upon the Day of Resurrection (as he who doeth right)? And it will be said unto the wrong-doers: Taste what ye used to earn. 24 Those before them belied, wherefore the torment came on them whence they knew not. 25 Then God made them taste of disgrace in this life; and the torment of the life to come is greater, if they understand. 26 And verily We have coined for mankind in this Qur'an all kinds of similitudes, that haply they may reflect; 27 An Arabic Quran, without any crookedness (therein) in order that they may avoid all evil which Allah has ordered them to avoid, fear Him and keep their duty to Him. 28 Allah sets forth an example: There is a slave in whom are (several) partners differing with one another, and there is another slave wholly owned by one man. Are the two alike in condition? (All) praise is due to Allah. Nay! most of them do not know. 29 Truly thou wilt die (one day), and truly they (too) will die (one day). 30 In the end will ye (all), on the Day of Judgment, settle your disputes in the presence of your Lord. 31
