And indeed We sent Moosa along with Our signs towards Firaun and his chieftains – he therefore said, “Indeed I am a Noble Messenger of the Lord of the Creation.” 46 But when he brought them Our tokens, behold! they laughed at them. 47 And not an Ayah (sign, etc.) We showed them but it was greater than its fellow, and We seized them with torment, in order that they might turn [from their polytheism to Allah's Religion (Islamic Monotheism)]. 48 But they said: "O sorcerer, call on your Lord for us in accordance with the compact He has made with you. We shall certainly come to guidance." 49 But when We removed the Penalty from them, behold, they broke their word. 50 And Pharaoh proclaimed among his people: “My people, do I not have dominion over Egypt, and are these streams not flowing beneath me? Can't you see? 51 Am I (not) better than him who is contemptible, and cannot even express himself clearly? 52 But why have not bracelets of gold been put upon him, or why have there not come with him angels as companions? 53 So when he had brainwashed his people, they followed him; indeed they were a disobedient nation. 54 So when they angered Us, We punished them, and drowned them all. 55 We made them a precedent, an example for later peoples. 56
