The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ They ask you about the windfalls. Say: The windfalls are for Allah and the Apostle. So be careful of (your duty to) Allah and set aright matters of your difference, and obey Allah and His Apostle if you are believers. 1 Indeed the believers are those whose hearts quake at the mention of Allah, and when His verses are recited to them it increased them in faith. They are those who put their trust in their Lord. 2 Who establish prayer and who expend of that wherewith We have provided them. 3 Those are the believers, truly. For them are degrees [of high position] with their Lord and forgiveness and noble provision. 4 As it was your Lord who rightfully brought you forth from your house, even though some of the believers disliked it, 5 disputing with thee concerning the truth after it had become clear, as though they were being driven into death with their eyes wide open. 6 Behold! Allah promised you one of the two (enemy) parties, that it should be yours: Ye wished that the one unarmed should be yours, but Allah willed to justify the Truth according to His words and to cut off the roots of the Unbelievers;- 7 and that He might verify the truth and prove untrue the untrue, though the sinners were averse to it. 8 [Remember] when you asked help of your Lord, and He answered you, "Indeed, I will reinforce you with a thousand from the angels, following one another." 9 Allah appointed it only as good tidings, and that your hearts thereby might be at rest. Victory cometh only by the help of Allah. Lo! Allah is Mighty, Wise. 10
