Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha-Mim. 1 I swear by the Book that makes things clear: 2 We have made it an Arabic reading text so that perhaps you may understand. 3 and behold, it is in the Essence of the Book, with Us; sublime indeed, wise. 4 Shall We turn away the Remembrance from you because you are a sinful nation? 5 How many Messengers did We send to the ancient people? 6 no Prophet came to them except that they mocked him, 7 And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded. 8 If thou askest them, 'Who created the heavens and earth?' they will say, 'The All-mighty, the All-knowing created them.' 9 (It is) He who made the earth to be a cradle for you and made in it ways for you, in order that you are guided. 10 And Who sends down water (rain) from the sky in due measure. Then We revive a dead land therewith, and even so you will be brought forth (from the dead), 11 And the One Who created all pairs, and made the ships and cattle as rides for you. 12 In order that you may mount firmly on their backs, and then may remember the Favour of your Lord when you mount thereon, and say: "Glory to Him who has subjected this to us, and we could never have it (by our efforts)." 13 And indeed we, to our Lord, will [surely] return." 14 Yet they make some of His servants partners in His divinity. Man is clearly ungrateful! 15
