The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I CALL TO WITNESS those who dive and drag, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 And then they speed with foremost speed. 4 And those who arrange [each] matter, 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 and the second blast follows it, 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 [But,] then, that [Last Hour] will be [upon them of a sudden, as if it were] but a single accusing cry 13 and behold! They will all come out in the open. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 saying 'Go to Pharaoh, he has become exceedingly insolent, 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Indeed in that is a warning for whoever would fear [Allah]. 26
