Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein they shall hear no vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and outspread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 and verily, It is for Us to call them to account. 26
