Al-Hijjr 3 of 6
And assuredly We have created human being from ringing clay of loam moulded. 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 And (remember) when thy Lord said unto the angels: Lo! I am creating a mortal out of potter's clay of black mud altered, 28 And when I have fashioned him and breathed into him of My spirit, bow before him in homage;" 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 except Iblis who refused to join with the others in prostration. 31 Said He: "O Iblis! What is thy reason for not being among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 Said he, 'I would never bow myself before a mortal whom Thou hast created of a clay of mud moulded.' 33 God said, "Then get out of here; for you are accursed, 34 and there shall be a curse upon you till the Day of Recompense." 35 (Iblis) said: "O my Lord! give me then respite till the Day the (dead) are raised." 36 [Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved 37 till the appointed time. 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 except the devoted amongst Your worshippers. 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 And verily Hell is the place promised unto them all. 43 To it are seven gates: for each of those gates is a (special) class (of sinners) assigned. 44

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
