The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 those who demand a full measure from others 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning), 4 On a mighty Day. 5 A Day whereon mankind shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 No indeed, the Book of the immoral is in Sijjeen. 7 And how would you know what the Record of the prison-house is? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe that day unto those who cry it lies, 10 who cry lies to the Day of Doom; 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 Then, it will be said to them: "This is what you used to deny!" 17 Nay, but the record of the righteous is in 'Illiyin - 18 And what will make thee know whatsoever the record in Illiyun is? 19 A record [indelibly] inscribed, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 reclining on couches, reviewing (the bounties given to them). 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 whose seal is musk -- so after that let the strivers strive -- 26 And admixture thereof will be Water of Tasnim: 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at those who believed. 29 and winked at one another as they passed them by. 30 And when they went back to their people turned to make fun of them; 31 and when they saw the believers, they said: “Lo! These are the erring ones”; 32 Whereas they have not at all been sent as guardians over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Are not the disbelievers paid for what they used to do? 36
