Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Faces on that Day shall be downcast, 2 labouring, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Some faces on that Day will be radiant, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Look they not at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
