The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 Thus, as for him who gives [to others] and is conscious of God, 5 And accepts the best, 6 We will facilitate for him the easy end. 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 and calls the ultimate good a lie 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 Nor will his wealth profit him when he falls headlong (into the Pit). 11 Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance. 12 And verify Ours is both the Hereafter and the life present. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 But those most devoted to Allah shall be removed far from it,- 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 Will surely be gratified. 21
