(The tribe of) A'ad denied the messengers (of Allah). 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: Will ye not ward off (evil)? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 so fear you God, and obey you me. 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 "Do you build useless monuments on every mountain 128 and erect castles hoping that you will live forever. 129 When you attack, you attack as tyrants do. 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 Have fear of the One who has bestowed upon you all that you know. 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 And orchards and springs. 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a dreadful Day' 135 They said: "It is the same to us if you warn us or do not warn. 136 "This is no other than the false-tales and religion of the ancients, [Tafsir At-Tabari, Vol. 19, Page 97] 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 In response they denied him – We therefore destroyed them; indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 139 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 140
