[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 When Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allah? 177 “I am indeed a trustworthy Noble Messenger of Allah to you.” 178 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 179 "No reward do I ask of you for it: my reward is only from the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ "Give just measure, and cause no loss (to others by fraud). 181 weigh with an even balance 182 and do not diminish the goods of the people, and do not make mischief in the earth, working corruption. 183 And guard against (the punishment of) Him who created you and the former nations. 184 They said: You are only of those deluded; 185 And you are naught but a mortal like ourselves, and we know you to be certainly of the liars. 186 So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful." 187 He. said: My Lord is the Best Knower of that which ye work. 188 But they called him a liar, so the punishment of the day of covering overtook them; surely it was the punishment of a grievous day. 189 Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 190 And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful. 191
