The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe to those who give less [than due], 1 Those who, when they take by measure from mankind, exact the full, 2 But if they measure unto them or weight for them, they cause them loss. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 For a tremendous Day - 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 Indeed! The record of the wicked is in the Sijjin -- 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 It is a Book inscribed. 9 Woe, then, to those that give the lie, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When our signs are recited to him, he says, 'Fairy-tales of the ancients!' 13 Nay! rather, what they used to do has become like rust upon their hearts. 14 Therefore they will be screened off from their Lord that day, 15 and then, behold, they shall enter the blazing fire 16 It will then be said, “This is what you used to deny.” 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what could make thee conceive what that mode most lofty will be? 19 A book inscribed, 20 Those who are drawn near (to Allah) shall witness it. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 seated on couches and gazing around in wonder. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 Their thirst will be slaked with Pure Wine sealed: 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink at each other (in mockery); 30 and when they returned to their own people, they would speak of them jestingly; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 And withal, they have no call to watch over [the beliefs of] others... 33 So, the believers will laugh at the infidels on that day, 34 On high couches, gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
