The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 and the day as it rises bright! 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Bliss. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and to Us belong the Last and the First. 13 Therefore I have warned you of a Fire blazing fiercely (Hell); 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 And no one has with him any boon for which he should be rewarded, 19 Except only the desire to seek the Countenance of his Lord, the Most High; 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
