Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
We sent Noah to his people, saying, 'Warn thy people, ere there come on them a painful chastisement.' 1 He said, “O my people! I am indeed a Herald of clear warnings to you.” 2 that you serve Allah and fear Him, and follow me; 3 That He may forgive you somewhat of your sins and respite you to an appointed term. Lo! the term of Allah, when it cometh, cannot be delayed, if ye but knew. 4 He said; 'My Lord, I have called my people by night and by day, 5 but my call has only increased them in running away. 6 "And verily! Every time I called unto them that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers into their ears, covered themselves up with their garments, and persisted (in their refusal), and magnified themselves in pride. 7 Then indeed I called them openly; 8 And lo! I have made public proclamation unto them, and I have appealed to them in private. 9 and I said: "'Ask your Sustainer to forgive you your sins - for, verily, He is all-forgiving! 10 He will let loose the sky for you in plenteous rain, 11 rain from the sky, 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 He has created you by stages! 14 Have you not seen how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other, 15 "'And made the moon a light in their midst, and made the sun as a (Glorious) Lamp? 16 ‘And it is Allah Who made you grow like vegetation from the earth.’ 17 "'And in the End He will return you into the (earth), and raise you forth (again at the Resurrection)? 18 And Allah has made for you the earth wide spread (an expanse). 19 for you, so that you may walk along its wide roads". 20
