Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I do call to witness the Resurrection Day; 1 And I do call to witness the self-reproaching spirit: (Eschew Evil). 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Yes, We are Able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers. 4 Nay! man desires to give the lie to what is before him. 5 asking, 'When shall be the Day of Resurrection?' 6 But [on that Day], when mortal sight is confounded, 7 And the moon darkens 8 And the sun and moon are conjoined, 9 on that Day the human will ask: 'To (which place) shall I flee' 10 No! There is no refuge! 11 on that Day, to your Lord alone is the recourse. 12 On that day, people will be informed of all that they had done and all that they were supposed to do. 13 Nay! Man will be a witness against himself [as his body parts (skin, hands, legs, etc.) will speak about his deeds]. 14 Whatever the excuses he may offer. 15 Move not thy tongue therewith that thou mayest hasten therewith. 16 Lo! upon Us (resteth) the putting together thereof and the reading thereof. 17 So, when We recite it, follow thou its recitation. 18 Then indeed, to explain its details to you is upon Us. 19 But no. You love this transient life, 20 And neglect the hereafter. 21 On that Day there shall be radiant faces, 22 Looking at their Lord (Allah); 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 Thou wilt know that some great disaster is about to fall on them. 25 No indeed; when it reaches the clavicles 26 and it is said: 'Who is a healing chanter' 27 the while he [himself] knows that this is the parting, 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 To your Lord on that day shall be the driving. 30
