The Sun (Al-Shams)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its midmorning, 1 And by the moon as it follows it (the sun); 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 by the night when it covers the earth with darkness, 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 By the Earth and its (wide) expanse: 6 and by the soul and that (Power) which designed it 7 and inspired it to lewdness and godfearing! 8 prosperous is he who purified it, 9 And miserable is he who hath buried it. 10 Thamud denied [their prophet] by reason of their transgression, 11 Behold, the most wicked man among them was deputed (for impiety). 12 the Messenger of Allah said to them: '(This is) the shecamel of Allah, let her drink' 13 But they belied him, and hamstrung her. So their Lord crushed them for their sin and leveled it (their village). 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
