۞ And indeed We bestowed Ibrahim with guidance from the beginning, and We were Aware of him. 51 When he said to his father and his people, “What are these idols before whom you squat (worshipping)?” 52 They replied: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: Verily ye and your fathers were in plain error. 54 They said, "Have you brought us the Truth, or are you one of those who jest?" 55 He said, "Your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth. It was He who created them and I testify to this fact". 56 And by Allah I shall surely devise a plot against your idols after ye turned away backward. 57 Then he reduced them to fragments, all save the chief of them, that haply they might have recourse to it. 58 (When they saw the idols in this state) they said: "Who has done this to our gods? Surely he is one of the wrong-doers." 59 They said: We heard a youth make mention of them, who is called Abraham. 60 "Bring him before the people," they said, "that they may bear witness." 61 They said, "Art thou the one that did this with our gods, O Abraham?" 62 He said, 'No; it was this great one of them that did it. Question them; if they are able to speak!' 63 Then they turned to themselves and said: Surely you yourselves are the unjust; 64 With their heads cast down they said, "Abraham, you know that idols do not speak. How then can you ask such a question?" 65 He said: What! do you then serve besides Allah what brings you not any benefit at all, nor does it harm you? 66 Fie upon you and upon that which ye worship beside Allah! Will ye not then reflect? 67 They said, "Burn him and help your deities, if you are resolved to do something." 68 We said to the fire, "Be cool and peaceful (with Abraham)". 69 And they wanted to harm him, but We made them the worst losers. 70 And We delivered him as well as Lut (removing them) to the land which We had blessed for all people. 71 And We bestowed upon him ls-haq and Ya qub as a grandson; and each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding by Our command; and We revealed unto them the doing of good deeds and the establishment of prayer, and the giving of poor-rate; and of Us they were the worshippers. 73 And We gave Lut the kingdom and knowledge, and We rescued him from the township that committed vile deeds; indeed those evil people were disobedient. 74 Thus We admitted him to Our grace. He is surely one of the righteous. 75
