He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 So you are after him! 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and who has fear of God, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Who are noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olive and palm trees 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing and joyful, 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 These will be the unbelievers, the wicked. 42
