Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 You do not have full control over them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
Almighty God's Truth.
