۞ And indeed We bestowed aforetime on Ibrahim (Abraham) his (portion of) guidance, and We were Well-Acquainted with him (as to his Belief in the Oneness of Allah, etc.). 51 when he said to his father and his people, 'What are these statues unto which you are cleaving?' 52 They replied, "We found our fathers worshipping them". 53 He said, 'Then assuredly you and your fathers have been in manifest error.' 54 They said: Bringest thou unto us the truth, or art thou some jester? 55 He said: "In fact it was your Lord, the Lord of the heavens and the earth, who created them; and I bear witness to this. 56 And by Allah I shall surely devise a plot against your idols after ye turned away backward. 57 So he broke them into fragments, all but a great one they had, for haply they would return to it. 58 They said, 'Who has. done this with our gods? Surely he is one of the evildoers.' 59 'We have heard a young man called Abraham mention them' they replied. 60 They said, “Therefore bring him in front of the people, perhaps they may testify.” 61 They said, "Abraham, was it you who did this to our deities?" 62 He said: Surely (some doer) has done it; the chief of them is this, therefore ask them, if they can speak. 63 So they turned to themselves and said, "Surely ye are the ones in the wrong!" 64 But then they reversed their minds: 'You know they do not speak' 65 He said, 'What, and do you serve, apart from God, that which profits you nothing; neither hurts you? 66 "Fie upon you, and upon that which you worship besides Allah! Have you then no sense?" 67 They said: 'Burn him and help your gods, if you are going to do anything' 68 Allah said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham." 69 They desired to outwit him; so We made them the worse losers, 70 And We delivered him and Lot to the land which We had blessed for the worlds. 71 We gave him, in excess, Isaac, and Jacob (for a grandson); and We made each righteous 72 and appointed them leaders to guide by Our Command and We revealed to them to do good deeds, and to establish the prayer, and the giving of charity, and they were for Us worshipers. 73 We bestowed upon Lot sound judgement and knowledge, and We delivered him from the city that was immersed in foul deeds. They were indeed a wicked people, exceedingly disobedient. 74 And We caused him to enter into Our mercy; verily he was of the righteous. 75
