O Ye apostles! eat the good things and work righteously; verily of that which ye work I am the Knower. 51 Surely this community of yours is one community, and I am your Lord; so fear Me.' 52 But their nations broke their tasks into pieces; every group happy with what it has. 53 Wherefore leave thou them in their bewilderment for a season. 54 Do they assume that the wealth and sons which We provide them – 55 We hasten in good works for them? No, they are not aware. 56 Verily those who for fear of their Lord are in awe. 57 And they who believe in the signs of their Lord 58 who associate none with their Lord, 59 Who give whatsoever they give (in His way), and their hearts tremble with fear that they have to go back to their Lord, 60 It is these who hasten in every good work, and these who are foremost in them. 61 And We do not burden any soul beyond its capacity, and with Us is a Book* that speaks the truth, and they will not be wronged. (* The preserved tablet or the record of one’s deeds.) 62 Aye! their hearts are in bewilderment in respect thereof, and they have works beside that, of which they are workers. 63 Until, when We seize in Punishment those of them who received the good things of this world, behold, they will groan in supplication! 64 [But they will be told] "Cry not in supplication today; for, behold, you shall not be succoured by Us! 65 "My Signs used to be rehearsed to you, but ye used to turn back on your heels- 66 In scorn thereof. Nightly did ye rave together. 67 Pondered they not over the Word? or came there unto them that which came not unto their fathers ancient? 68 Or, is it that they recognised not their apostle, and so of him they become deniers? 69 Or do they say: There is madness in him? Nay! he has brought them the truth, and most of them are averse from the truth. 70 And if the truth had been in accordance with their desires, verily, the heavens and the earth, and whosoever is therein would have been corrupted! Nay, We have brought them their reminder, but they turn away from their reminder. 71 Or do you ask of them any tribute? In that case the tribute of your Lord is better, for He is the best of providers. 72 Assuredly thou art calling them to a straight path; 73 and surely they that believe not in the world to come are deviating from the path. 74 ۞ And if We have mercy upon them and remove the calamity which has befallen them, they would still stubbornly persist, wandering in their rebellion. 75 And We had gripped them with suffering [as a warning], but they did not yield to their Lord, nor did they humbly supplicate, [and will continue thus] 76 until, when We open against them a door of terrible chastisement, lo, they are sore confounded at it. 77
