The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And those Foremost (in Faith) will be Foremost (in the Hereafter). 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude of those (foremost) will be from the first generations (who embraced Islam). 13 And a few from the latter. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 neither causing headaches, nor intoxication; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 as the likeness of hidden pearls, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 and gushing water, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and made them virgins, 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
