Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ SAY: "I HAVE been informed that a number of jinns had listened; then said: 'We have heard the wondrous Qur'an, 1 It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone. 2 for [we know] that sublimely exalted is our Sustainer's majesty: no consort has He ever taken unto Himself, nor a son! 3 The ignorant fool among us has spoken outrageously against Allah, 4 and we had thought that men and jinn would never speak against God a lie. 5 Yet [it has always happened] that certain kinds of humans would seek refuge with certain kinds of [such] invisible forces: but these only increased their confusion 6 And they had thought, as you thought, that Allah would never send anyone [as a messenger]. 7 "We went near the heavens but found it to be full of strong guards and shooting flames. 8 And we were wont to sit on seats therein to listen; but whosoever listeneth now findeth for him a dartin meteor in wait. 9 'And we know not whether evil is intended for those on earth, or whether their Lord intends for them a Right Path. 10 Some of us are righteous, while others are not; we follow divergent paths. 11 'But we think that we can by no means frustrate Allah throughout the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 When we heard the Guidance, we believed in it, and whosoever believes in his Lord shall fear neither shortage nor injustice. 13 And of us some are Muslims, and of us some are deviators. Then whosoever hath embraced Islam - such have endeavoured after a path of rectitude. 14 'But those who swerve,- they are (but) fuel for Hell-fire'- 15 (And Allah's Message is): "If they (the Pagans) had (only) remained on the (right) Way, We should certainly have bestowed on them Rain in abundance. 16 So We might test them therein. And whoever turns away from the remembrance of his Lord He will put into arduous punishment. 17 The mosques are for God's worship -- so do not invoke anyone else along with God -- 18 when God's servant stood up to pray to Him, they pressed close to him in great numbers, almost stifling him. 19
