The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And thy Sustainer's greatness glorify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 For when the trumpet shall sound, 8 Truly, that Day will be a Hard Day. 9 not of ease, for all who [now] deny the truth! 10 Leave to Me the one, whom I have created all by Myself, 11 And gave him abundant wealth 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 By no means; he is stubbornly opposed to Our Signs. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 Verily, he thought and plotted; 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Then may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 20 Then looked he, 21 frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 It is nothing but the word of a mortal' 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It does not allow to live, and neither leaves [to die,] 28 Scorching the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [powers]. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
