The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall return unto his people joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night, and what it [step by step] unfolds, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
