The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 He created man from a clot of blood. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught (to write) with the pen 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 or orders piety? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
