And when the messengers came to the family of Lot, 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 They said, "No, but we bring you news about what they disputed, 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 "So leave with your family late in the night, yourself remaining in the rear, and let none turn back to look, and go where you will be commanded." 65 And We made known this decree to him, that the root of those (sinners) was to be cut off in the early morning. 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. (* To the house of Prophet Lut.) 67 Said Lot: "These are my guests; do not put me to shame, 68 Fear Allah and do not disgrace me' 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said, “These women of our tribe are my daughters, if you have to.” 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 Surely! In this are signs, for those who see (or understand or learn the lessons from the Signs of Allah). 75 Indeed, it is on a way which still exists. 76 Surely! Therein is indeed a sign for the believers. 77 The dwellers of the Wood (near Midian) were also wicked. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
