The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven bursts asunder, 1 And hearkens to (the Command of) its Lord, and it must needs (do so);- 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And casts forth what is within it and becomes (clean) empty, 4 in obedience to the commands of its Lord which are incumbent on it, (the human being will receive due recompense for his deeds). 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 And be thrown to scorching fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
