Al-Shams
The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the sun and its brightness 1 and by the moon when she follows him, 2 And [by] the day when it displays it 3 and by the night as it envelopes the sun; 4 By the heaven and Who built it, 5 And the earth and Him Who extended it, 6 and by the soul and that (Power) which designed it 7 and how it is imbued with moral failings as well as with consciousness of God! 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 and those who corrupt their souls will certainly be deprived (of happiness). 10 The people of Thamud rejected (the truth) as a result of their rebelliousness 11 When among them the great wretch arose, 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 However, they rejected him and slew her. So their Lord completely destroyed them and their city for their sins. 14 He has no fear of its sequel. 15
True are the words of God the Almighty.
