The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ The people’s reckoning is near, whereas they are in neglect, turned away! 1 Never cometh there unto them a new reminder from their Lord but they listen to it while they play, 2 Their minds are lost in frivolous pastimes; and the evil-doers discuss secretly: "Is he not but only a man like you? Then why are you taken in by magic seeingly?" 3 He saith: My Lord knoweth what is spoken in the heaven and the earth. He is the Hearer, the Knower. 4 Some say, "These are his confused dreams." Others say, "He has invented it himself," and yet others say, "He is a poet. Let him bring us a sign as previous messengers did." 5 Not a [single] city which We destroyed believed before them, so will they believe? 6 And We sent not before thee but men unto whom We revealed; so ask the people of the admonition if ye know not. 7 We did not endow the Messengers with bodies that would need no food; nor were they immortals. 8 then We made true the promise We gave them and We delivered them, and whomsoever We would; and We destroyed the prodigal. 9 We have revealed for you (O men!) a book in which is a Message for you: will ye not then understand? 10
