The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount (of Revelation); 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 by the Visited House, 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 and by the swelling ocean, 6 surely thy Lord's chastisement is about to fall; 7 No one can avert it. 8 On the day when the heavens will swiftly fly 9 And the mountains will move away with an awful movement. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 such as play at plunging, 12 on the Day when they shall be thrust into the fire with [an irresistible] thrust, [and will be told:] 13 “This is the Hell which you used to give the lie to.” 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Endure it [now]! But [whether you] bear yourselves with patience or without patience, it will be the same to you: you are but being requited for what you were wont to do." 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 enjoying what Allah will have endowed them with; and their Lord will have saved them from the torment of the Blazing Fire. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ And their boy servants shall go around them, as if they were pearls, safely hidden. 24 They will converse with one another, putting questions to each other, 25 Saying: Lo! of old, when we were with our families, we were ever anxious; 26 So Allah conferred favor upon us and protected us from the punishment of the Scorching Fire. 27 We had prayed to Him; He is Kind and All-merciful". 28
